A long time Union activist, Brother Kolba worked as Operator at the Edmonton CIL (AT Plastics) plant for 26 years. During his years with AT Plastics, he was Chairperson of his bargaining unit, Local 777, AT Plastics and for many years he was also President of the composite Local 777.

Former President of the Alberta Area Council, he also sat on AFL Committees, such as Human Rights, Solidarity Alberta and Political Action.

In 1984 he was elected Executive Board Member of the ECWU, then re-elected in 1986 and 1988.

He he was hired by ECWU as Temporary Representative for one year in 1991 and was hired in 1993 as Permanent Representative of the CEP and later assigned to Organizing in the province of Alberta.
