Radio Dispute Ends
Members of CEP Local 827-M employed by CFCP Radio Ltd. (Coast Radio) have ratified a tentative agreement, ending a three week strike that began July 5th.

Trades Shortage Looms
Delegates from CEP and B.C. Carpenters Locals heard a bleak forecast for our economy at a conference on apprenticeship organized by CEP. The looming shortage of skilled workers across Canada is due to the anticipated retirement of approximately 40% of CEP members who work in the trades. (Story, Photos, Video)
Western Peace Rallies
Trade unionists and other peace activists gathered by the thousands March 20th across Western Canada on the first anniversary of the U.S. invasion of Iraq. Among the 20,000 In Vancouver, was world renowned activist and author Noam Chomsky. (Story, Photos, Video)

Happy Retirement, Bill
CEP Staff Rep and long time union activist Bill Kolba has retired. Bill was active for many years in Local 777 before becoming a national representative in 1991. (Story & Photos)
Edmonton TV Strike Ends
Striking employees at A-Channel Television in Edmonton have ratified a first collective agreement and will be going back to work on March 1st The strike began September 17th when members of CEP Local 1900 walked out to back demands for a fair wage system and job security provisions. After 71 days on the picket line victorious
members of CEP Local 789 won the lion's
share of what they struck for in mid-
November. Management at the Domtar
Vancouver Mill, which makes fine papers
on Annacis Island, agreed to the pattern.
